They've got camera registration woking and you can use aligned RGB and depth streams. Also, what about joining the OpenKinect mailing list and mention gfreenect there too? http://groups.google.com/group/openkinect/ If gobject meets certain portability requirements you could also end up replacing the bindings libfreenect offers.
